The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ budget is likely significantly higher than that of Thunderbolts*, according to a new report.

According to a new report from Variety notes that the film’s budget is “north of $200 million,” which would slot it higher than that of Thunderbolts*, which had a reported budget of about $180 million.
The movie’s budget, while the highest of any film in Shakman’s career, is still mostly in the middle ground for the MCU according to the report. $200 million puts the film somewhere in the range of budgets of films like 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, 2018’s Black Panther, 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, and more. Only three films in the MCU have reportedly crossed over the $300 million budget, with those being Avengers: Infinity War ($300m), Avengers: Age of Ultron ($365m), and Avengers: Endgame ($400m).
The cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps is led by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The film also includes Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer. Additionally, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne have been cast in undisclosed roles.

Kevin Feige serves as a producer on the project, while executive producers include Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis. Mitch Bell is a co-producer, while the music comes from Michael Giacchino.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in United States theaters on July 25, 2025. It has been confirmed that Pascal, Kirby, Quinn, and Moss-Bachrach will all return for Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in December 2026.
