Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that he has already seen Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn‘s newest superhero movie, Superman. Since its theatrical debut, the DC Universe movie has recieved positive reviews from critics and fans alike, with a current Popcornmeter score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
What did Kevin Feige say about James Gunn’s Superman?
During a recent press briefing via Deadline, Feige expressed how much he loved Gunn’s Superman, revealing that they immediately reached out to the director to show their support for the DC Universe’s success. Despite the competition between studios, he is genuinely rooting for the success of superhero movies.
“I think James has had an influence on us, and we had one on him,” he said. “We texted. I was telling him how much I loved the movie. And he said ‘Wouldn’t exist without you guys.’ I think studios see every other studio as competition,” says Feige. “Right now in our business, I root for every movie. I want every movie to succeed.”
In addition, Feige also shared his admiration towards Gunn’s vision, confirming that he was impressed with how the filmmaker introduced the characters in a fully fleshed-out world.
“I love how you just jump right into it. You don’t know who Mr. Terrific is? Tough. You’ll figure it out. You don’t know what this is? Just go, go. This is a fully fleshed-out world.”
Superman was written and directed by James Gunn, based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The movie stars David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Anthony Carrigan as Metarmorpho, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, and Neva Howell as Martha Kent, along with Alan Tudyk, Michael Rooker, and Grace Chan.
