Young Avengers MCU Project Gets Promising Update From Marvel Boss

Kevin Feige has finally shared a new Young Avengers update for Marvel Studios’ long-rumored project. The fan-favorite superhero team’s highly anticipated debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was actually first teased at the end of 2023’s The Marvels, where Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel invited Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop to form a new group with other young heroes like them.

What did Kevin Feige say about the MCU’s Young Avengers project?

During a recent press briefing via Variety, Feige was asked about Marvel Studios’ future plans for the Young Avengers. He teased that the team could indeed “potentially” debut as “a film, TV series or TV special,” depending on what’s best for the story they’ll come up with.

“In that case, it comes down to where’s the best story and where is the best strange alchemy. Who would be fun to see them with? Each other, because that’s what the Young Avengers are, but also mixing it up more.”

The Young Avengers was created by writer Allan Heinberg and artist Allan Heinberg in 2005 for Marvel Comics. In the original comic book series, the members of the team include America Chavez, Kate Bishop, Iron Lad, Hawkeye, Kid Loki, Patriot, Speed, Wiccan, Stature, Prodigy, Hukling, and more. Some of these characters have already made their respective MCU debuts.

Since the team’s appearance was first teased in The Marvels, rumors started circulating online about the potential project. A previous report suggested that the team may debut in a show titled Champions, which would possibly merged the Young Avengers and Champions lineup from the comics. Shrinking writer Rachna Fruchbom has reportedly been enlisted to serve as its showrunner and executive producer. Following Mephisto’s debut in Ironheart, a recent rumor also claimed that the Marvel villain might appear in the planned Champions series.
