James Gunn recently revealed that Doctor Fate was one of the superheroes shown in the mural in his recent movie, Superman. Apart from that, he also shared whether the Flash shown in the Hall of Justice mural was Jay Garrick. The DC Studios co-CEO recently joined Josh Horowitz for a chat, where he was asked about the mural shown in the Superman movie.

When Horowitz stated on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast that fans are trying to spot the Golden Age heroes in the Hall of Justice mural, James Gunn agreed that Doctor Fate is one of those who appear in it.

The veteran filmmaker said, “I think Doctor Fate’s in there.” However, when Horowitz listed other characters that people assumed to be part of the mural, Gunn denied. The host conveyed that fans could make out Jay Garrick’s Flash in the mural. To this, Gunn replied with “nope.”

If the Flash is not Jay Garrick’s, it could be that the one in the mural might be Max Mercury. However, Gunn has confirmed that as well. Mercury is one of the oldest speedsters to appear in DC Comics. The podcast host then asked if Alan Scott’s Green Lantern was there. The Peacemaker creator answered, “I don’t think so. I got to look.”

Before James Gunn’s statement, fans had decoded the mural and spotted the following characters from the Golden Age of DC. These are — Jon Valor’s Black Pirate, Brian Kent’s Silent Knight, Golden Arrow, Arthur Curry’s Aquaman, Ted Grant’s Wildcat, Gardner Grayle’s Atomic Knight, John Law’s Tarantula, Kent Nelson’s Doctor Fate, John Ravenhair’s Black Bison, Dominic Mndawe’s Freedom Beast, Wesley Dodds’ Sandman, Amy Winston’s Amethyst, Paco Ramone’s Vibe, Jim Corrigan’s Spectre, and Patricia Trayce’s Vigilante III.
