Kevin Feige Addresses When Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Will Appear Next

Marvel Studios’ boss, Kevin Feige, discussed the future of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine in the MCU while speaking to the media. The pair made their MCU debut in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, though they have portrayed the characters on the big screen for far longer than that.

Kevin Feige teases Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s return to the MCU

Feige indicated in a recent round-table sit-down with the media that he, Reynolds, and Jackman discussed the future of the latter two within the MCU. “There have absolutely been discussions. We’re in touch with Ryan a lot,” Feige said, adding, “So the answer is yes.”

When the outlets attending the event specifically asked about Jackman’s future in the franchise, Feige played coy and paraphrased one of Deadpool’s now-famous lines from Deadpool & Wolverine. “He’s doing it until he’s 90, man,” Feige humorously stated. (via ComicBook)

As things stand, Marvel Studios has yet to clarify which MCU project Jackman and Reynolds will appear in next. According to reports, Reynolds is developing a script about an X-Men ensemble project, but this will apparently not be an X-Men MCU feature.

Notably, Jackman appeared as James “Logan” Howlett / Wolverine in the 2000 20th Century Fox feature X-Men. In the ensuing years, he reprised the role in multiple projects, garnering widespread acclaim. Meanwhile, Reynolds first essayed the role of Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The movie received a lukewarm response, especially for its depiction of Wade. Reynolds subsequently spent years trying to get a better Deadpool movie made. He eventually succeeded with 2016’s Deadpool. Its considerable success led to the development of 2018’s Deadpool 2 and 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

Additionally, it’s unclear whether Jackman and Reynolds will reprise their respective roles in the upcoming event movies in the franchise. However, there is considerable speculation on the subject in the Marvel fandom.

Avengers: Doomsday premieres in U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars comes out on December 17, 2027.
