Kathleen Gati (Dr. Liesl Obrecht) recently talked about Kelly Thiebaud (Britt Westbourne)’s return to General Hospital. For those unfamiliar, Britt Westbourne’s story ended tragically on the show when she intervened in an attack intended for Josslyn Jacks. She sustained severe injuries, and before she could receive treatment, she passed away. Gati shared her thoughts on what it would be like for her character if it turned out that Thiebaud’s Britt hadn’t died. So, here are the details.
Kathleen Gati says Liesl Obrecht would be ‘ecstatic’ to have Britt back on General Hospital
In conversation with Soap Opera Digest, Gati addressed how her character would feel if Obrecht returns as Britt, who earlier passed away. She said, “If indeed she comes back as Britta, I would be ecstatic for Obrecht to have her beloved daughter back, however shocking it would be. Can you imagine to have that person back whom you loved most in the whole world, but had supposedly died, only to return? I cannot even fathom the feelings that would be conjured up.”
She revealed that it would be a rollercoaster of emotions for Obrecht if Britt were to be revealed as alive. However, she also explored the possibility of Thiebaud playing a different character. She waited to see how it could potentially impact Obrecht’s story.
Additionally, she shared what it was like having Thiebaud back on the set and detailed their reunion moment. She mentioned, “I had been filming several episodes when I saw Kelly’s name on the call sheet one day. Her first day back. I felt like a kid in a candy store when I walked into the makeup room, and there she was. We definitely had a very emotional and heartfelt hug upon seeing each other again.”
Recalling the tragic fate Britt met years ago, she noted, “It was heart-wrenching having Kelly/Britta die in my arms nearly two years ago, knowing we would not be working together again, after nearly 10 years playing mother and daughter. Those tears were quite real, knowing she was leaving the show. After working together for so long, she had become almost a real daughter to me. I love that girl.”
