Rebel Moon 3: Sci-Fi Movie Gets Shaky Update From Zack Snyder

Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder has finally shared an update regarding the future of Netflix’s action sci-fi franchise after the first two installments both received negative reviews from critics. This comes after the streamer had just released a brand new game titled Blood Line, which is based on Snyder’s Rebel Moon universe.

During a recent interview with Variety, Snyder confirmed that he has temporarily paused the development on his third Rebel movie in order to shift his focus on his upcoming LAPD movie for Netflix. He revealed that it has been nice to take a break from the Rebel Moon franchise, especially after directing back-to-back installments.

“I got sidetracked into this — not sidetracked, it’s all uptown problems, as they say — for Netflix, I’m working on an LAPD SWAT movie,” Snyder shared. “So I was like, OK, well, I’m gonna just sort of let that Rebel Moon world boil for a minute, and I’m gonna go do this. And frankly, it was a very exhausting, long process doing the two movies together. So it was nice to have a bit of a break from it. I love it like crazy, but it’s nice to have a bit of a break. So yeah, we’ll see after I finish this, when I come back, where we are with everything.”

In additon, Snyder was also asked about his reaction to James Gunn’s Superman movie. The Man of Steel director admitted that he hasn’t gotten the chance to see it yet, but will be trying to watch it as soon as he can.

“This weekend I don’t think I’m seeing it because I have a horse show — my kids ride horses — but I’m going to try to see it right after that,” Snyder said.

Superman was written and directed by James Gunn based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The movie is led by David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Since its debut, the DC Universe movie has been receiving positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike. It currently holds a Certified Fresh rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.
