With many wondering about the fate of Sofia Gigante following the conclusion of The Penguin, actress Cristin Milioti has come out to shed light on the possibilities of her reprising the role in The Batman 2 or Season 2 of the Colin Farrell-led series. In a recent interview, she shared her thoughts about potentially returning as Sofia in future DC projects that take place in Matt Reeves’ Batman universe.
Cristin Milioti’s Sofia might return in Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 or The Penguin Season 2
During her recent appearance on a podcast, the How I Met Your Mother alumna expressed that she would love to tackle the part of Sofia Gigante once again.
Talking about her motivations to portray Sofia again, possibly in The Batman 2, Cristin Milioti noted on Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast, “It feels unfinished to me for sure. Oh my God. I mean, I would love to revisit her, especially because of where we last saw her. So to me, it doesn’t feel finished, but I don’t know. We’ll see.”
Towards the conclusive moments of her interview, the 39-year-old actress reiterated her desire to go back to her The Penguin character. She stated, “I really, deeply hope we get to revisit this in some way. And this won’t be a sort of final celebratory moment, but we don’t know.”
If not Batman 2, it is possible for Sofia Gigante to return in a potential Season 2 of The Penguin series, which has received a positive update from HBO CEO Casey Bloys. In a recent interview, he addressed the future of The Penguin series, stating, “Could another chapter be in the future? Definitely possible. Right now, I think the priority for Matt is the movie. But I know that Lauren is thinking of various ideas that might work alongside the movie. I think it’s possible.”
At the end of The Penguin, Sofia Gigante once again finds herself in the confines of Arkham Asylum after succumbing to the schemes of Farrell’s Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot. As such, the door remains open for Cristin Milioti’s character to return in subsequent elseworld DC projects.
