Who is involved with Matt Damon in The Odyssey?

Damon headlines The Odyssey as Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca and hero of the Trojan War. The movie is based on Homer’s epic poem, which chronicles Odysseus’ treacherous journey home after the war, where he encounters mythical creatures, including Sirens, Cyclops, and Circe.

Like many of Nolan’s films, The Odyssey features a large ensemble of A-list talent, character actors, and bit players. Tom Holland plays Odysseus’ son, Telemachus, while Charlize Theron portrays Circe, the witch-goddess.

The cast also stars Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Nick E. Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, Michael Vlamis, Iddo Goldberg, Josh Stewart, Ryan Hurst, Anthony Molinari, and Logan Marshall-Green.

Nolan writes and directs The Odyssey, his first feature film since the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer. Nolan produces alongside his wife, Emma Thomas. The Greek epic will be distributed by Universal Pictures, Nolan’s second consecutive movie with the studio.

The Odyssey reportedly carries a budget of $250 million, the largest of Nolan’s career. It’s also the first blockbuster shot entirely on IMAX cameras.

The Odyssey arrives in theaters on July 17, 2026.
