Superman Movie Figures Are Great for Collectors and Kids

James Gunn’s Superman is out now in theaters and is already winning over viewers with its colorful characters and action-packed sequences. The movie reboot of the DC Universe feels like a Saturday cartoon come to life. That’s why it’s only fitting that there are plenty of figures to collect and play with.

ComingSoon recently went hands-on with three different Superman figures. Each one was wildly different than the other, and it showcased an impressively diverse range of offerings. Whether you’re looking for something for your kids to play with or want something to stay on your shelf to display your fandom, there are some great Superman figures that are right for you.

Krypto takes flight with Spin Master’s RC toy

4 / 6

Much like a lot of people, most of my favorite scenes in the movie involved Krypto. The super-powered canine might not be a well-behaved dog, but he’s certainly a lovable one. One of the coolest merch offerings is Spin Master’s Superman Up in the Sky! Flying Krypto RC toy, which allows you to play with a Krypto that flies in the air.

Priced at $32.99, this is my favorite of the three Superman figures I got to check out. There’s no remote control here, as this RC toy is hand-controlled, as it is able to hover over your hand. You also don’t have to worry about batteries as it charges via USB cable, so this is a one-time cost. It’s really neat to see in the air and is best for older children, as you can chase it in the air, and the controls can take a little getting used to (call me old-fashioned, but I’d still like a remote control option). The Krypto sculpt is charming — they even got his ears right — and it gains bonus points in my books for originality.

McFarlane Toys has quality action figures

5 / 9

The most collector-centric figure I got to check out was McFarlane Toys’ Superman & Krypto figure. This seven-inch Superman figure also includes an adorable Krypto as well. Priced at $39.99, it’s a good middle-ground figure as it’s not going to break the bank, nor is it lacking in quality. With three extra face plates for Superman, including a cool one with red eyes to simulate his laser sight, plus two flat hands to go with his default action hands, you’re getting a good amount with this set.

I was impressed with the amount of detail in the figure, which has a wired soft goods cape allowing for posing and feels nice to touch, as it really looks like David Corenswet. There are 22 moving parts in total, so you’ll be able to get both figures into whatever scene you have in mind. There’s also a nice collectible art card included (view it in the pictures above), and it pairs well with the other McFarlane figures coming out for the movie. If you’re looking to begin a collection of DC Universe figures, I can’t think of a better starting point.

Imaginext Superman figures are great for kids

6 / 6

One of the most eye-catching highlights of the film is when Superman takes on a dangerous kaiju that is attacking Metropolis, which makes it a perfect option for younger kids. While it starts off as an adorable baby, it quickly grows large and wreaks havoc. The Fisher-Price Imaginext Superman Kaiju Clash set sees the monster find a less violent end than in the movie, as he’s in a pair of handcuffs rather than deceased.

At $34.99, the set features the massive kaiju, which is 10 inches tall, a great size for children three and up. Meanwhile, the stylized Superman figure is 3 inches tall. The super-sized Kaiju is the highlight as it has a trigger in its tail, which allows you to activate lights and sounds that allow for the battle to really come to life for children. The glowing eyes of the kaiju are particularly fun, and there’s enough movement to help support motor skills for youngins.

Of course, these are just a few of the figures of a wildly wide-ranging offering. Even more deluxe and premium figures will be released down the line for collectors looking to dish out more. Make sure to look online and find the figure that’s right for you.

Disclosure: ComingSoon received figures from Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products for this feature.
