Netflix has extended its longest-running TV show for yet another season, according to a new report from Deadline.

According to Deadline’s report, Virgin River is back for yet another season. Just after wrapping production on Season 7 of the series, Netflix has already renewed the series for a Season 8. Deadline’s report notes that, with the renewal, the series is now believed to be Netflix’s longest-running live-action scripted series, surpassing Grace and Frankie and Orange is the New Black.
Virgin River stars Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole, Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Mark Ghanimé, Kai Bradbury, and Kandyse McClure. Season 6 of the series released on Netflix on December 19, 2024. Season 7 of the show is currently reported to arrive sometime during the holiday season.
The series originally premiered in 2019 on Netflix and follows the story of Melinda “Mel” Monroe, who moves to the remote Northern California town of Virgin River to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner. The series then follows the ongoings of the town, and how Monroe acclimates and develops relationships with those in it.
