Despite playing arch enemies in the new Superman film, David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult seem to have a playful bond off-screen, as evidenced by Corenswet’s comments about his co-star copying his style. The 32-year-old actor portrays the titular superhero in James Gunn’s latest movie. Corenswet recently took to social media to take a humorous jab at one of Hoult’s outfits, stating that the Lex Luthor actor has a habit of mimicking his fashion sense.
David Corenswet posts about Nicholas Hoult on Instagram
On July 9, David Corenswet shared a post on his Instagram profile, comparing his and Nicholas Hoult’s looks.
The Twisters actor posted a carousel of images, featuring his sporty look during an outing in Midtown Manhattan. He can be seen wearing a pair of white trousers, black boots, and black shades. He also wears a white tank top with a grey sweater knotted around his right shoulder. In the same post, David Corenswet shared a picture of Nicholas Hoult from June 30. The latter was wearing an almost identical outfit with minor differences. Corenswet jokingly captioned the post, “Dude’s been jacking my style since 1998.”
Hoult upheld the spirit of his Superman co-star’s banter by sharing the post on his Instagram story. He added three laughing emojis and a skull emoji, with Rosemary Clooney’s “Sisters” playing in the background.
The two stars have also shown that they have mutual respect for each other’s acting capabilities. In an earlier interview, Corenswet talked about the time when he discovered that Hoult was also screen-testing for the Superman part. He stated, “I’d give it to Nick.” He further expressed his admiration for the Nosferatu star by adding, “Every time I saw him, I thought, ‘I wanna be like him, and also I’ll never be like him.’”
Superman marks the first collaboration between the two stars. The film is set to hit the big screen on July 11, 2025.
