Demon Slayer Movie Is Longer Than Most Avengers & MCU Movies

The upcoming Demon Slayer movie, which will mark the beginning of the end of the fan-favorite anime, has revealed its official runtime. Dubbed Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Chapter 1, the film will serve as the first entry in a trilogy which will will wrap up the beloved animated series. With the film just days away from hitting theaters in Japan, fans now know how long the much-awaited movie will be.

Demon Slayer movie to have a surprisingly long runtime

As reported by AnimeTV, the forthcoming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Chapter 1 movie will have a runtime of 2 hours and 35 minutes, which amounts to 155 minutes, making it longer than most of the Avengers movies.

For comparison, the first Avengers film, which premiered in 2012, had a runtime of 143 minutes. Meanwhile, 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron ran for a total of 141 minutes, with its sequel, Avengers: Infinity War, having a runtime of 149 minutes. However, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame was 181 minutes long.

Based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga series of the same name, the anime completed the Hashira Training arc with the conclusion of its fourth season. Now, the show is set to bring the concluding plotlines of its source material to screens in the form of three movies. Starting with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Chapter 1, the upcoming films will deal with the Final Battle arc, which comprises two sections, namely the Infinity Castle and the Sunrise Countdown arcs. This will see Tanjiro and the other Demon Slayer Corps prepare for the final showdown against Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji at the titular castle.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Chapter 1 is on track to hit the big screen in Japan on July 18, 2025, prior to its United States and United Kingdom premieres on September 12.
